      1. BASF and BigRep closed a partnership for industrial 3D printing solutions

        BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH?and large-format 3D printing company,?BigRep?have closed on a strategic partnership to co-develop solutions for industrial 3D printing applications.

        First announced?in November last year, the collaboration includes the joint development of materials and printers for industrial customer requirements and also sees investment from BASF Venture Capital.

        The announcement marks the second closing of a growth round initiated in the second half of 2017 for the Berlin-based start-up which develops and produces some of the world’s largest 3D printers.

        Established last year?in response to the growing demand for additive manufacturing-focussed materials, BASF 3D Printing Solutions will bring its extensive material knowledge which offers the broadest product portfolio in the chemical industry for the development of 3D printing materials.

        “With the combined skills of the two companies, this forward-looking partnership will allow our customers to accelerate the development of industrial applications,” said Volker Hammes, Managing Director of BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH.

        “We strive to provide our customers with the most innovative 3D printing solutions using BigRep equipment, and now BASF industrial materials help take us to the next level,” said René Gurka, CEO of BigRep, of the partnership.

        “BASF is the strongest materials partner. Together, we can help our customers solve their challenges with innovative 3D printing processes.”

        Parent company,?BASF?is one of the largest chemical companies in the world, and in recent years has turned its attention to the 3D printing market, with numerous partnerships with the likes of?HP,?Ricoh?and?Farsoon.

        For BigRep, in addition to its headquarters in Berlin, the company has also been growing its global network with?operations now in the USA?and Singapore, and a network of resellers across every continent.
